An
all
Affirming Congregation is
one that welcomes Gays into all of the life of the local
church, and is gay-friendly, and believes one CAN
be Christian and Gay at the same time, since God
created all peoples including Gays.
We accept all people, no matter where on life's journey they are
at the moment. If you are seeking for truth and knowledge, and seeking
for a closer walk with God, come visit and grow with us.
We believe in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit
of God working in our hearts, souls, bodies,
minds, and in our lives to be more like Jesus. But that
process does NOT change our sexual
orientation any more then it changes our skin color
or gender. These are some things God will never do, nor
have any reason to change.
There are some Affirming Congregations in most
denominations today. You have to go to their local church website
to find more info.
This is opposed to
churches that are Transforming Congregations, which
means one can NOT be Christian and Gay, but they
welcome Gays that are seeking to transform into a "Straight"
lifestyle. We believe that view to be an utter impossibility, sinful,
and also un-Biblical, and against ALL modern scientific intelligence and
information.
Most churches are neither, that is, they ignore gay people
of faith, or else boot them out from their membership
and churches (which is very sad and very un-Christ-like).
YOU are ALL welcome at
The Rock MCC church!
May "trouble makers" be
changed by the power of God even before they pass by our church
property, before they enter the front door of our church building!
Visit us this Sunday!
May God Bless You All

Worship:
-
Worship
services at The Rock MCC
are created to provide an environment
for spiritual expression for people of diverse
backgrounds. In our services we sing, pray,
read the Bible, listen to the sermon and share in the
Eucharist.
-
Morning Worship Service
Sunday, 11:00 AM (Morning Children's Church,
every Sunday)
-
-
Choir Practice
Thursday, 7:00 PM
Eucharist (Communion Service):
-
Every
Sunday service includes the celebration of: The
Lord's Last Supper (Holy Communion, or
Eucharist).
-
We
in the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan
Community Churches practice this because
Jesus Christ said, "Do this in remembrance of me."
-
The
early Church in the book of The Acts of the
Apostles included this as the central part of
every Church gathering and we continue in that tradition,
celebrating in the way enjoyed by the Church in the last two
thousand years.
-
This
sharing of the bread and drink strengthens us in our faith,
in our service to God, and to each other as sisters and
brothers in the family of God.
-
We
at The Rock MCC use
non-alcoholic grape juice exclusively.
-
In
every Metropolitan Community Church we
celebrate an "open communion." You
need not be a member of The Rock MCC
or any other Church, but only have the desire to
celebrate life with Jesus, who is the host at this most holy
of meals. We are all invited to share at this table, not
just as His guest, but as His sisters and brothers in
Christ.
Our History:
-
The Rock Metropolitan Community Church (The Rock
MCC) was founded in 1988
and is a commissioned Church of the
Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches
(UFMCC )
denomination
[shorter name is:
Metropolitan Community
Churches (MCC)], which was founded in
1968 in Los
Angeles, CA by
The Rev. Troy D. Perry.
{This local
MCC church original name was: Metropolitan Community Church of Chattanooga (MCCC),
which was first founded as an extended parish of
the MCC Knoxville (TN) church.}.
-
The Rock MCC is a
Christian church open to all. We strive
to be an inclusive fellowship of
believers in Jesus Christ that are seeking to make the
Gospel relevant to all people.
-
God's
Word is brought to us each week in a dynamic,
positive sermon that is geared toward a
happier, more confident life.
-
Our love
for each other is surpassed only by our love for Jesus
Christ as our Savior and Lord.
The Rock MCC and Sexuality:
-
The Rock MCC
believes that
sexuality is a gift from God.
-
We
see
homosexuality (being gay) as
a divine gift from God in the same
way that heterosexuality (being straight) is
a divine gift.
-
We
urge our faith community to be responsible in the
stewardship of sexuality.
-
-
Intensive
efforts are made by The Rock MCC
to let everyone study exactly what the Bible does and does
not say about homosexuality.
-
Good
scholarship concludes there is no condemnation
of lesbians or gay men in the Bible.
-
We
need not fear a genuine exegesis
of the Scriptures of the Holy Bible.
