Our Church Profile

Our Church Profile

The Rock MCC  is a Christian denomination --a part of the Church Body of Jesus Christ here on earth-- called the Universal Fellowship of Metropolitan Community Churches  (UFMCC) -shorter name is Metropolitan Community Churches  (MCC).  The first MCC church was started in 1968 by Rev. Troy David Perry  who is a Pentecostal minister.  MCC now has over 250 churches in 23 countries of the world.  This local MCC church was established in 1988 as a parish extension of the Knoxville MCC  in Knoxville TN under the direction of Rev. Bob Galloway.  The primary outreach in most MCC churches is to the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender (GLBT) communities around the world.  All people –straight, gay-friendly, gay-affirming, and questioning, --no matter what sexual orientation, are welcome at MCC.  God’s love is big enough to embrace all who come to the Good News in Jesus Christ.  God surely loves you and so do we.  Visit your local MCC church this Sunday!  And stay tuned here for current news and events at our local church, The Rock MCC!  God Bless!

This website's address is:  http://TheRockMCC.org.  Bookmark it and save under your Favorites places for easy access back here.

The default colors for un-visited links is dark purple, and green for visited links.  All links are underlined, except the links in the blue/purple boxes, and uses the font called -- Arial --.  Email, Web addresses, & website addresses uses the -- Courier New -- font.  Most all other text uses the -- Times New Roman,  or  Garamond--  font.  There are always people new to computers and the internet, so there are 'how-to' comments placed where there might be questions of use. This part may be revised as needed.

I am now using Expression Web 2, so many things will change. And as time goes by, this website will continue to be changing for the better, hopefully.

Our other old MSN groups site  -- The Rock MCC -- will be only used to re-direct people to this website.  Since Microsoft has done away with MSN Groups, that site is no longer around.

Misc Computer Info

Misc Computer Info

This is mostly for my (Bernard) personal informational use. There is much computer usage and "how to" stuff all throughout these web pages that are hidden from the general viewer, but can only be seen by me, the programmer using the computer program FrontPage2003, or Expression Web 2. Other words, there are hundred of "Comments" that are automatically hidden from viewers, and many other text that still are in place in a page, but I've hidden it for various reasons from the viewers. Sometimes it is a good way to save text without deleting it -just hide it, if it is out of date, or shows me how to do something in the future, etc. I make a lot of notes to myself, lists of names spelled correctly for worship schedules, phone numbers to be kept private from viewers, etc. Right now, I, Bernard Wotton, am the only person able to edit our church website. I am the only one who has a password to TheRockMCC.org  besides the host company who has access to it also for emergency purposes. Some day soon I may let another trusted person to have limited access to FrontPage 2003 editing capabilities for helping maintaining our church website.

No longer using FrontPage, but using its new replacement, Expression Web 2 by Microsoft. (Well, I am still using both programs, since at times I need to. I must 'save' a webpage in one program before editing that same page in the other program.) Some links are broken since I made some sub-folders to put similar file pages in. Will be re-doing the whole website and change many things to be standards-base, and restructuring the Home page, and moving some info that the general public does not need to know to our church wiki site which is now private instead of public.

Concerning the church wiki site, it is now a private site for use by The Rock MCC members only.
Any of you members and friends can edit any wiki page, or add new pages right now. If you do add info and things to the wiki, let me know so I can help you if you mess up... The wiki site itself is a work in progress; the folks who created it are making improvements  and adding new features to it all the time. And we are using the wiki site to add information for the viewers. At the moment, it seems like I'm the only one able to access the wiki site for editing (& maybe for viewing also? I'm the only one using it anyways. The wiki site has been downgraded. Besides, it is way out of date. Too much old information that no longer applies to us in 2010. Some day I'll update it...)

This site was started sometime in April, 2005, using the "Corporate Presence Wizard"
(which automatically created a complete business website on my computer, which I then upload
to the host computer so you can view it on your computer) in Microsoft FrontPage 2003,
and is being converted, adapted as our church website.

This is a slow and fun work in progress, and is a new set of learning experiences for me in doing this project,
as I read and study books, read articles on the internet, and visit websites concerning creating web pages and websites.
The site will expand as I continue to learn. (Press the F5 key on keyboard to refresh (reload) your monitor screen,
as that updates your screen to the newest pages that are being uploaded online. -This part probably only applies to me, the editor.)
Thanks for your patience and kindness! Any feedback and suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My computer system uses a 17" and a 19" screen monitor both connected to my video card. I now have a laptop & use a 24' monitor at home.
The above 2 are not presently used since I don't use my home desktop XP Pro computer anymore.

I open multiple copies of internet browsers, such as Internet Explorer, Opera, Netscape, Firefox, Avant Browser,
and occasionally the AOL and OffByOne browsers, to view this website -to inspect how this site looks in each one.
I have set "TheRockMCC.org" website as my default Home Page when I open them. (I use AOL mostly for email
and its unique message boards, which is piggybacked on top of my DSL -now, Cable - internet service.)

In the Internet Explorer  menu under View --> Text Size, choose --> Medium, --> Smaller, or --> Smallest
for best viewing of our site. I base every thing on the Medium setting so most all one liners are on one line.
But I noticed on some monitors the output looks very poor, due to a smaller monitor or lower resolutions or
both -which means far less space to view the site in. The higher the resolution you can cope with, the better
the viewing... The higher the resolution of the display on your monitor, the smaller the printed text is, but you
can see a lot more of each page at one time without scrolling. But then if the text is a little too small to read
comfortably, adjust the Text Size under View in Internet Explorer. (Most of this paragraph only applied to our
old MSN groups site when one could only use Internet Explorer to edit the site.  I now use FrontPage 2003 to
edit our new website... so much better! The higher resolution and smaller text size are still true no matter
what browser you view the site in.)

It would be appreciated if every one of you would send me the details of your monitor size, the resolution settings
you use most of the time, and if the colors used show up well on your system & how the text size used on each page
shows up on your monitor, and what browser you use to view this site.  I know how the site looks on my monitors;
I think it looks pretty good, but it may not look very good on other ones.  I could only do so much adjusting within
the limits of the MSN Groups framework.  Since now using FrontPage with a real website, adjustments are much
easier and more precise. Please let me know how I can better adjust things so all people who visit our site can
enjoy it to the fullest! (I've recently gone through the site and reduced the font size of most text,
so hopefully it looks better on your screen.)
