LGBT Faith Matters website for local affirming churches
Janice Mynchenberg has been working with the TN Valley Pride   Board's webmaster  to create a special webpage for affirming churches in Chattanooga.  Eric Eubanks has agreed to serve as a co-editor for the site.  David Howard has been designing a logo.  The website will be named lgbtfaithmatters.org, and it should be up and running early in 2010.

Bible Study Group
The Wednesday evening Bible Study Group will be starting a new series -- reading 1st and 2nd Samuel together, from beginning to end.  These books contain the stories of the last judge, Samuel, and the first kings of Israel, Saul and David.  If your New Year resolutions include spending more time with the Bible and in prayer, this may be the perfect opportunity for you to connect with other people who do just that.  The Bible Study Group meets every other week, and the next session of 2010 will be on January 27, 2010 at 6:30pm at the church.

6pm Evening Worship Service
And don't forget that The Rock MCC offers two worship services every Sunday.  The 11:00am service features praise music, guest preachers and performers, and communionThe 6:00pm service is led by lay members of our congregation and focuses on special seasonal themes.  During the Season of Epiphany, which runs through the month of January and into February, we'll explore names/titles/images that have been used by Christians to describe Jesus Christ.    Beginning in January, the sermons begin a new series on "The Names of Jesus" and will explore some of the many names by which Jesus Christ is called in our scriptures and in Christian tradition -- such as "Lamb of God" and "Rose of Sharon."  Communion  is also part of each evening's worship, and hymns are sung from our congregation's own hymnal.

Here's the proposed schedule for the Sunday evenings in Epiphany:

January 3 -- Janice on "Name of Jesus" and Eric as liturgist
January 10 -- Ken on "Lamb of God" and Eric as liturgist
January 17 -- Eric on "Author and Perfector of our Faith" and Janice as liturgist
January 24 -- Janice on "Rose of Sharon" and Ken as liturgist

January 31 -- Ken on "Cornerstone" and Janice as liturgist
February 7 -- Eric on "Wisdom of God" and Janice as liturgist
February 14 -- Eric on "King" and Ken as liturgist

The 2010 Strides of March  AIDS Walk
The Strides of March, an annual benefit for Chattanooga Cares, will be here sooner than you think.  The Rock MCC has been a participant in this event for many, many years.  Are we going to be there in 2010?  If so, we need volunteers to organize fundraisers, recruit walkers, set up and staff a display booth, and various other jobs.  Please speak to David Howard, the board's Outreach liaison, or any other board member, about how you can be a part of the 2010 Strides of March.  More info here.

Our Food Voucher Program
Applications for food vouchers are accepted on the 4th Tuesday of each month from 11am to 1pm at the church.
