An
all
Affirming Congregation is
one that welcomes Gays into all of the life of the local
church, and is gay-friendly, and believes one CAN
be Christian and Gay at the same time, since God
created all peoples including Gays.
We accept all people, no matter where on life's journey they are
at the moment. If you are seeking for truth and knowledge, and seeking
for a closer walk with God, come visit and grow with us.
We believe in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit
of God working in our hearts, souls, bodies,
minds, and in our lives to be more like Jesus. But that
process does NOT change our sexual
orientation any more then it changes our skin color
or gender. These are some things God will never do, nor
have any reason to change.
There are some Affirming Congregations in most
denominations today. You have to go to their local church website
to find more info.
This is opposed to
churches that are Transforming Congregations, which
means one can NOT be Christian and Gay, but they
welcome Gays that are seeking to transform into a "Straight"
lifestyle. We believe that view to be an utter impossibility, sinful,
and also un-Biblical, and against ALL modern scientific intelligence and
information.
Most churches are neither, that is, they ignore gay people
of faith, or else boot them out from their membership
and churches (which is very sad and very un-Christ-like).

The
Small Groups Team is holding their 1st installment
of:
Sexuality and the Bible:
Christian & Gay? What the Bible Really Says About
Homosexuality?.
What the
Bible Does and Does NOT Say About Faith and Sexuality.
Are you familiar with what Scripture does/does not say about being gay? Where
can you find affirmation/acceptance in the Bible? What did Jesus say about
being gay? To find out the answer to these questions and many more, be at
the church with Bible, paper, and a pen in hand...
Anyone is welcomed to
attend. The class in the past has been very informative and scripture based.
You DO NOT have to be gay to attend this class as it serves to show everyone
and anyone that they can be a Christian. If you are curious, have questions
or concerns, or are in doubt, then this is a class you do not want to miss.

Gay and
Christian?
Of course, you can be both at the same time! God does NOT demand you
(if you're Gay) to give up being Gay thus becoming straight, any more then He demands a Black to
become a White when you accept Jesus Christ as your personal Savior and
Lord! You are a Christian, and God accepts you just as God made you! Let NO
man nor woman say otherwise! You are a Child of God, created in God's image.
God put you here on earth as a gay person for a purpose. Part of that
purpose is concerning how straights react to gays in fulfilling the Gospel
story found in Matthew 25:40, 45. In as much as straights treat gays badly,
they are treating Jesus badly also; in as much as they help and show mercy
to gays, they are doing it to Christ also...
What are some more of a gay person's purpose on this
earth? Be at the next Bible Study Class to find
out more.

This is a very
important class for all peoples. We need now more then ever to be able
to give a reasoned, heart-felt, God-life-giving answer to any and all
who ask us about our faith in God and Jesus Christ. We need to know for
our own sakes as well as to not feel guilty and ashamed when someone
questions our being and our faith. Learn how to correctly interpret
scripture. The Bible has very little to say about homosexual activity. Come on out to learn what the Bible also does NOT say about being Gay! Can the Bible support Gay Marriage? If you are Gay, can you also be a
Christian? a follower of Jesus Christ? Or when you become a Christian,
must you give up being gay and become straight? What does the Bible say? What does God's Word really say?

Join us beginning on Wednesday, August 9, 2006, at 7
PM for a four-week trial series of uplifting midweek worship services, led
by our church's lay ministers.
They went over so good that the Midweek Praise
Worship Service on Wednesday nights are being extended for
the time being.
We'll be starting back up Wednesday 11-15-06 at 7:00 pm.
From here on out they will be held on the
second
Wednesday of each month.
Our December mid-week service will be on 12-13-06. Also anyone interested in speaking, doing P&W, or Act of Praise

Membership Inquirers Class

(Meets every so often, see calendar for
next one)
Small Groups announces the 1601 Social Club.
What is it you ask? Why it’s your chance to meet and
interact with your fellow church members in a dining
setting. The name itself comes partly from the church’s
address (1601 Foust St) and the purpose of the club which is
to encourage more interaction between church members,
especially the ones we only see on Sundays or at a special
event. The club is open up to anyone. The club will meet
once a month to eat and talk and whatever. The cost is $5
per person/$3 per couple. This covers the food and
preparation of the meal. The first meeting will be
Saturday, Oct 7, 2006 at 7 PM at the church. Reservations
are required so that enough food can be prepared for all who
attend. A sign up form will be provided in this coming
Sunday’s Sunday News. If you are interested in participated
please either fill out the form and drop in the offering
plate or email rockmccsmallgroups@comcast.net with the names
of those attending. Monies should be turned in no later than
Sunday, Oct 1st (that's this Sunday!!!).
