An
all
Affirming Congregation is
one that welcomes Gays into all of the life of the local
church, and is gay-friendly, and believes one CAN
be Christian and Gay at the same time, since God
created all peoples including Gays.
We accept all people, no matter where on life's journey they are
at the moment. If you are seeking for truth and knowledge, and seeking
for a closer walk with God, come visit and grow with us.
We believe in the transforming power of the Holy Spirit
of God working in our hearts, souls, bodies,
minds, and in our lives to be more like Jesus. But that
process does NOT change our sexual
orientation any more then it changes our skin color
or gender. These are some things God will never do, nor
have any reason to change.
There are some Affirming Congregations in most
denominations today. You have to go to their local church website
to find more info.
This is opposed to
churches that are Transforming Congregations, which
means one can NOT be Christian and Gay, but they
welcome Gays that are seeking to transform into a "Straight"
lifestyle. We believe that view to be an utter impossibility, sinful,
and also un-Biblical, and against ALL modern scientific intelligence and
information.
Most churches are neither, that is, they ignore gay people
of faith, or else boot them out from their membership
and churches (which is very sad and very un-Christ-like).
YOU are ALL welcome at
The Rock MCC church!
May "trouble makers" be
changed by the power of God even before they pass by our church
property, before they enter the front door of our church building!
Visit us this Sunday!
May God Bless You All
in the Name of Jesus! |

Welcome to our
"Wiki" site information page
(Transferring you here so can read more misc information about a wiki, instead
of directly to wiki site.)

wiki
Check out this NEW Tool that you are welcome to use!
(It is NOT part of this, our main church website, but is a
separate entity.)
Notice:
When NO graphics show up in THIS
church website,
it means the wiki site host computers are down; they should be up and online soon. |
| The PBwiki application program is itself
a very new product. It was created in June, 2005, and
it continues to expand and add new features. See a History
of this particular wiki brand, the PBwiki at -About
Us &
Team. I discovered it in 2006 through a
Yahoo! Groups that I belong to. I looked into it and
said, Wow! That is something that we could use. Below
is misc. info that I gathered as I was learning how to make
and use a wiki. It is in no particular order, is much
rambling at times, and just some ideas written down so I
won't forget... It is not organized yet. Hope to have the
"Help" & "Tips" in an organized format some day. Some stuff
no longer applies, as the application changes and evolves
over time.
There are some things about it that I wish
was implemented, or done differently, such as having
Multiple Folders and Sub-Folders in the storage
area instead of being one great large place for all files,
etc. as it is right now. It is getting harder and harder to
find and keep track of file names -pictures, docs, etc.
We have 15 times more storage here on the wiki than on our
website. That is great, but just 1 huge folder for all
files, which is a downer.
Still I like it, even though editing it is
a pain at times. Other words, I have not learned all the
rules yet, which is largely learned through trial & error,
doing and re-doing a page until it is mostly what you want.
That is why I keep making notes to myself as to how to do
things. And I post them here on the website, and on the wiki
site under the "Help" links in the QuickStart
tab of the SideBar.
For instance, when I first started our
church wiki site, the SideBar had no
tabs. I did not know that 3 tabs were available until I made
the "ONE
in One" wiki site for the
Atlanta based "Speak Out Community Forum"
this past August. So I requested the owners -creators- to
change our wiki site into an "Educational"
wiki site because that type of wiki SideBar has 3
tabs, and they did it. (If I had just made a new one, and
copied and pasted the old one into the new one, and deleted
the old one, the name of the old wiki site is also destroyed
as of now; I didn't want that. I wanted to keep the name of
our church wiki site.) The QuickStart tab and the
SideBar tab can hold many links -many different kinds of
links. I'm using QuickStart for help links, and the
SideBar for links to pages on the wiki site and on
the website... |

wiki
What is it?
A new internet tool for us to use!
YOU can put notes on a wiki webpage!
Have fun with online discussions!
Our own wiki here...
wiki file storage
wiki file storage
Testing Links from the wiki to here...
Referencing a file or picture on the wiki site & linking it here...
Does it work?
Test Picture Yes, it works; must be in edit mode to copy the full address and
paste it into a link...
Opening a doc file Yes, it works also... Good.
Wonderful!
I have upgraded the wiki site from the Basic Free level with only 10
MB storage to the Gold Professional level with 2000 MB storage;
this is 20
times the storage then on our church website -which I have upgraded
from
50 MB to 100 MB storage, which isn't very much when compared to the
wiki site's storage space. This is why I'm transferring picture and
document files from our church website storage area to the wiki's
storage area. We keep running out of space for current and new pages
on our church website. Website pages must be stored on our church
website for the program FrontPage to take care of as a whole.
Pictures and document may be stored elsewhere with links to them in
order to free up precious storage space for website pages as we
expand our church website. This is why I'm so glad I discover the
wiki concept with it's huge storage area.
Wow!
The only problem is that the wiki storage in its present form is just one big folder, so
all files, docs, and pictures, etc. uploaded MUST be Named
with very good descriptive file names along with
year-month-day and file #, such as "AIDS Walk with Gay Flag
2006-03-25 #02.jpg"... or "Chosen Gen Mission 2006-04-05
#01.doc"... This must be done before using any file in any
article or page. If you re-name a file afterwards, links to it will be
broken... And you must keep track yourself of the files you
upload...

Introduction to a wiki site
(a web page you can edit
right from your own web browser online!)
| Anyone can visit the
wiki; anyone can enter the wiki to edit any page, or add
a new page. We are using the Basic level wiki as of now
to experiment with to see if we like it, or can be
of value to us. It has been upgraded to Gold. When you edit,
make changes, to a page, always SAVE it before closing
the wiki, or move to some other program. If you do not
click on the Save button, that page is unavailable to
others until you re-enter that page and finish editing,
then SAVE the page.
Just ignore the Ads by Google at top of pages, or on the
right-hand side of each page. Those ads are not by us.
The only ads by us will be in the SideBar
on the Home page. There are NO Ads in the
upgraded version that we now have.
What ever you do with the wiki, please make it church
related. If it is not, I can go in and edit, or delete it. |
| Some thoughts -thinking out loud...
You
are welcome to use our Wiki. Please visit the wiki often to see what
is offered. I hope you folks at The Rock MCC will start
using it very soon. Maybe after a while you will see the value of
using it.
The possibilities are almost endless as to how a wiki can be
used. There are many resources / tools out in the world that we can
use --such as telephones, computers, cell phones. Combine these with
online services such as the Internet, websites, email, IM's and
other ways of gathering information, you have quite an array of
useful ways of putting out information for other people to use.
Now enter the wiki; combining all of these things
along with a wiki into a unified
way of doing things, you have one super duper huge means of
collaborative effort of many people in meeting common goals in the
many issues that we face in life.
How can folks get in contact with each other to share
information?
(1) Visit in person with each other at some physical place
such as your home, or other meeting place.
(2) Telephone the
other person to talk one on one
(3) Send email to each other, as well as mail though the
Postal Service
(4) Use some instant messaging service, IM each other
(5) Sharing computer disks, CDs, DVDs, pictures, USB storage
sticks
(6) HyperLinks in websites and online articles
(7) and other electronic ways, such as radio, TV
(8) Start a wiki, make a wiki - a fantastic tool to allow for
collaborative writing, a webpage you can edit by
adding notes, suggestions, etc. just for yourself -a private wiki, or
for a group of folks -a public wiki. Ours is a public wiki. |

wiki file storage
I have upgraded the wiki from the Basic Free level with only 10
MB to the Gold Professional level with 2000 MB storage, which is 20
times the storage on our church website -which I have also just upgraded
from
50 MB to 100 MB storage, and much wider bandwidth. Last time
the wiki site was down, after it came back online, they gave us 25%
more storage, so it is now at 2500 MB...
Wow!
The only problem is that the storage is just one big folder, so
all files MUST have unique file names. Docs, and pictures, etc. uploaded MUST be Named
with very good descriptive file names along with
year-month-day and file #, such as "AIDS Walk with Gay Flag
2006-03-25 #02.jpg"... or "Chosen Gen Mission 2006-04-05
#01.doc"... This must be done before using any file in any
article. If you rename a file afterwards, links to it will be
broken... unless you go back to the link and update it to the new
renamed file. And you must keep track yourself of the files you
upload...
Please
Do NOT
DELETE any
Files from the wiki
site "Files" storage area...
If you do, picture
links and doc links will be broken... NOT work anymore.
The wiki site AND
our church website AND the e-News all uses files from
the wiki site file storage
area... so do NOT delete, or rename any file after it
has been uploaded to that area. IF you have made a
mistake on some file, please let me correct it, so
NO File will be deleted accidentally by
writing over it... THIS IS MOST
IMPORTANT !!
